The annual Miss Burnet Bluebonnet Scholarship Pageant is the kick-off for the Bluebonnet Festival and one of the first official events. Young ladies from around the Burnet area are invited to participate in the pageant. Winners represent Burnet and the Chamber of Commerce in the coming year in programs and festivals across the region.
The parade has always included a variety of critters: dogs, cats, hamsters, snakes, birds, goats and even a pig. Some pets are wearing the latest fashions, some pets and their owners share a theme, but most come as they are, ready for lots of tail-wagging excitement.
What’s a festival without a parade? Marching bands, antique cars, horses, fire trucks, special performing groups such as the Sunrise Beach Lawn Chair Brigade and Hill Country Plungettes will bring a smile to everyone, from the very young to the young-at-heart.
The popular, invigorating run caters to both the experienced runner and first-time runners as well. Runners will go around the historic square, and then continue through the city of Burnet and surrounding countryside.
The Mighty Thomas Carnival has something for kids of all ages.
Shop till you drop at the more than 150 arts and crafts vendors throughout downtown Burnet. A wide variety of items are available such as handbags, toys, jewelry, custom artwork, t-shirts, candles, clothing, bows, metal art… you never know what treasures you will find.
If you are a music fan, then the Bluebonnet Festival is just what you are looking for. A stellar line-up of local artists and performers coupled with well-known Texas performers take the Main Stage on Washington Street starting Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.
